Position Title: Intern, CIPE Africa Hub
Reports To: Program Manager, Africa

Duration: 3-4 Months

Scope: The Intern supports the CIPE Africa Hub in strengthening business integrity and private sector development programs by assisting with data management, documentation, and administrative coordination across ongoing initiatives. This role provides an opportunity for early-career professionals to gain practical experience in development programming, governance and compliance data, and multi-country project implementation within an international organization focused on advancing democratic and economic outcomes across Africa, with the supervision and close coordination of the CIPE Africa Regional Hub based in Lagos, Nigeria

Reporting to the Program Manager, Africa, the Intern will support CIPE Africa’s program and data management functions by assisting with the organization, verification, and processing of program-related information, ensuring accurate and secure recordkeeping across relevant platforms and systems. They will contribute to reporting and documentation, help maintain structured digital files, and support cross-team coordination through periodic updates and participation in internal meetings. As needed, the intern will also assist with wider CIPE Africa initiatives, including research, stakeholder engagement, and general program implementation activities, while upholding CIPE’s data protection and ethical standards.

This position is a remote position based in Lagos, Nigeria and fully functionally supported by the Regional Hub Office based in Lagos, Nigeria. The position would require travel throughout the country and on some occasions outside the region.

 

Responsibilities:

Learning Objectives

  • Gain practical experience working with business integrity and compliance data
  • Learn about CIPE’s Africa programs and their role in strengthening ethical business environments
  • Develop skills in database management, data validation, and digital record systems
  • Understand how business integrity mechanisms contribute to investment readiness and market access
  • Strengthen professional competencies in research, reporting, and project implementation

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Reviewing and validating data records of Nigerian companies listed on the Ethics 1st® platform to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to integration
  • Extracting and organizing user compliance and governance documentation, including self-assessment results and registration data, for upload to the Business Integrity Certification (BIC) portal
  • Supporting accurate data migration in line with structure and integrity guidelines provided by the BIC Secretariat
  • Ensuring proper categorization, naming conventions, and tagging of uploaded files
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to CIPE’s data protection and ethical standards
  • Providing progress updates and assisting in validating data accuracy post-migration
  • Contributing to documentation of lessons learned, challenges, and best practices from the integration process
  • Supporting other projects and initiatives across CIPE Africa as assigned, including activities related to program implementation, research, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or ongoing study) in Information Management, Economics, Business Administration, Political Science, International Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience (including internships, volunteer service, or project-based work) in data processing, research, governance, or development programs
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and cloud-based data or document management platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards.
  • Demonstrated interest in business integrity, governance, or private sector development (preferred).
  • Legal authorization to work in Nigeria is required.
