The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the world through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and is an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include Enterprise Ecosystems, Democratic Governance, Business Advocacy, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Anti-Corruption & Ethics, and Trade.  

Position: User Experience Manager

Reports to: Chief Communications Officer (CCO)
 

Scope:  CIPE is seeking a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, D.C. for a User Experience Manager who will write and design digital assets to ensure users enjoy seamless and engaging interactions with digital platforms. Daily responsibilities include creating web pages, podcasts and videos to make sure they improve SEO, meet brand standards, and effectively deliver CIPE’s messages.

Responsibilities

  • Writes copy and creates graphics to ensure that podcasts, social media, electronic invitations and other digital assets meet quality standards and ensure messages are more easily understood.
  • Works closely with the Multimedia Manager to assist in the organization’s digital efforts. Ensuring that these products improve the overall digital experience of users and effectively advance the goals and key messages of CIPE.
  • Develops the enterprise-wide social media calendar and coordinates with Communications Liaisons across CIPE to create digital campaigns that maximize visibility for CIPE’s thought leadership, events and messages.
  • Supervises and coaches’ internal staff to create highly polished digital assets that align with marketing best practices. This includes writing copy, sourcing images, and editing video to ensure that the final products meet CIPE’s branding and donor requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with clients at a variety of levels across functions to help design products that meet client expectations and functionality.
  • Creates the production schedule for podcasts, videos, and Cipe.org to unsure that we are creating and updating content in a manner that maximizes for CIPE programs on the communities we serve.
  • Writes and edits website copy to improve readability and SEO, identify keywords and negotiate backlinks.
  • Supports digital campaigns to drive increased awareness and engagement. Advise colleagues on creative and effective ways to bridge the gap between business objectives and available technology.
  • Designs PowerPoints and other presentation materials for a diverse set of  events.
  • Photographs events for use in social media, the website and other CIPE branded materials.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience in digital communications with at least four years of experience with website administration and development using WordPress.
  • Strong knowledge SEO strategy development and execution.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills. This includes high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Graphics design, photography, and/or video editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including demonstrated ability to operate gracefully in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Technical ability in building websites, often with WordPress or other content management systems.
  • Project management, which requires strong skills in organization and time management.
  • Relationship management and an ability to communicate with appropriate stakeholders,
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in digital channels such as social media, chatbots, ecommerce, websites, and digital advertising.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital policies and digital rights issues and their impact on CIPE and other organizations.
  • Financial acumen and ability to develop, manage, and monitor project budgets.  
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision in a fast-paced, global environment.
